Helping Other People Everyday (HOPE)
Our mission is to create a global impact utilizing virtual care to help people in need everywhere. By partnering with Rove Estate Vineyard and Winery, a for-profit entity, we created a non-profit organization, H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everyday). Rove Estate is operated by a family of fifth generation farmers who pay homage to their legacy and preserve their family’s tradition by being active in their community and using their business platform to bring both awareness about and progress to the healthcare industry.
H.O.P.E is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization promoting continuity of care through health services in local communities as well as globally. It is based on the premise of servant leadership, and believing that helping other people while they are dealing with significant health issues such as cancer or other disease and ailments, that the community is strengthened from the inside out.
H.O.P.E. was founded by McKenzie Gallagher, co-owner of Rove Estate Vineyard & Winery, and Shawn Cole, MD, MHA, a board-certified internal medicine physician who is a national expert in telemedicine and has won numerous teaching awards in academic settings. Having both had personal and professional experiences with cancer, they have seen firsthand how disruptive and devastating this medical diagnosis can be to an individual and their family. It is through McKenzie’s own cancer journey, that she has experienced the kindness of those in her community helping her family through very uncertain times. It was her goal to find a way to “pay it forward” and help other people during their similar experiences.
Rove Estate Vineyard and Winery partners with existing charities to help promote world class events. For example, annually they host a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital event which provides funds to the lifesaving work of the hospital. Since the inaugural event in 2017, nearly $250,000 has been raised to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Additionally, Rove Estate works with numerous local and regional non-profits to help raise awareness and support for other organizations that benefit the sick and underprivileged both locally and globally.
Starting in 2020, HOPE is committing to a minimum of ten charitable outreaches. The primary premise of these events will be focused on agricultural education, access to healthcare for the small business owner/farmer, going “green” and our global footprint- sustainable farming. Lastly, we will host one large annual gala focused on raising money for those suffering due to a lack of healthcare access.
